What is the VI Peel like?

To start, your skincare professional will cleanse and prepare the skin for treatment. By cleansing the skin of any product your skin will better absorb the acids for the best possible outcome. During your treatment you may feel a slight stinging sensation for a short amount of time, which will subside on its own. Applied topically, the skin numbs after the first pass and some patients find it more comfortable when a fan is used to cool the skin.

In total, it takes about 45 minutes for the cleansing and application of the peel. The peel can be effectively applied onto the neck, face, chest and hands. This varied application can very helpful for anti-aging purposes to remove the signs of sun damage on the hands and chest.

The Science Behind Peels

There is often confusion over how a peel exfoliates and rejuvenates the skin. The change happens on the cellular level by encouraging turnover at a faster rate. Younger skin is able to accomplish quicker and more consistent cell turnover alone or with cleansing. However, as we age, this process becomes slower and more infrequent. By adding a peel into your skincare routine you can speed up this process and get the benefits at a quicker rate than you would naturally. The VI Peel contain AHA’s which chemically exfoliates the skin, which is far more effective for addressing visible signs of aging and pigmentation.

What downtime should I expect after my treatment?

Most patients will experience redness immediately after their treatment. For the first couple of days, a slightly pinker complexion and tighter skin will be the only visible signs. Patients may experience some downtime during the peeling process which will begin on the third day. It will continue for up to a week, and the peeling can range from mild to extensive.

There are no restrictions other than using sun protection and avoiding makeup while the skin is peeling following treatment. The skin that is revealed beneath the peeling portion will be very fresh, so protecting it from the sun will be a priority. You should be able to resume most normal activities within week after your treatment..

What will my results be like with the VI Peel?

Dramatic results can be seen within a week after your treatment. Many VI Peel patients experience a luminous glow to the skin with improved skin texture within a week following treatment. With improved texture you can enjoy better makeup application as well as better product absorption post-peel. The peel takes away the dull outer layer of the skin that normally peels away at a much slower pace.

Due to its unique combination of agents, the VI Peel can address many different skin issues at the cellular level. This is a great peel for treating wrinkles and fine lines, large pores, hyperpigmentation, and acne. Patients with damaged skin can repeat the treatment once every two weeks while patients with average skin can receive this peel once every three months.
