Laser Hair Removal
Before receiving laser hair removal, you should avoid waxing and plucking for about six weeks. You will need the hair follicle intact because this is what will be targeted during removal treatment. You should also avoid too much sun exposure which can make your skin more sensitive during treatment and the laser less effective.
Your aesthetician in Royal Oak will begin treatment by trimming the hair just above the surface of the skin. They will then apply a cool gel to protect your skin, and you might wear eye protection if the laser will be directed at or near your face. Next, your aesthetician will select the appropriate laser settings for your hair type and color. The laser will then be used in a grid like pattern, zapping small sections of hair at a time. Because only some of our hair is in its active growth phase at a time, several spaced out sessions are required for full treatment.
After laser hair removal, the area that was treated might be red and feel like a sunburn. A cool compress and keeping the area moisturized can help ease any discomfort. The sun can cause temporary changes to the color of the skin that was treated, so wear an effective sunscreen for the month following treatment. Over the next few weeks, the treated hair will fall out. For complete hair removal, it is recommended to attend several follow up sessions every 4-6 weeks for a total of 4-6 treatments.
